Who doesn’t know Burano, the splendid island in the "Laguna of Venice", famous for its wonderful laces?

It’s here, in fact, in this island of houses painted in fantastic colours, houses in which the artisan traditions are jelousy mantained, that the story of Drusolina Rossi started, best known among us as "DRUSI".

She was born in a simple family, custoding the island’s tradition, the mother a lace-maker, the father a fisherman, in such a home, Drusi developped her love for everything requesting genious in inventive and a tireless manual patience. She goes to the nun’s school and in the afternoon she learned the technic and secrets of what is may be the most important resource of the Burano island, "il merletto", the lace.

But her genious carried her even farther, to other traditional artistic activities as necklace and glass pearls. And that we did at Murano, another very famous island of the "Laguna", which is tied up to very alive traditions. With all her experience accumulated through the years, she developped her artisan activity assisted by a few and selected collaborators. It’s important to emphasize that her artisan products were spontaneously born from her mind but not from merely commercial interest. In fact, none of her selection of the colour of the pearls through the selection of the laces.

So she creates beautiful dolls in clothes of the best quality, showing off wonderful laces, each of them different in the fancy faces manual painted; candy-boxes delicately elaborated and showing pearls and ribbons. We don’t want to forget the rich collection of details that makes a fiancée more glamorous and important in the marriage days, such as crowns and diadems for the head with marvelous pearls, from the most simple to the most importants, and cushions for the wedding rings in satin and lace. There are also refined articles for ceremonies, as earrings, precious broches and necklaces enterily hand make in the costly materials that are the products of a very refined bijouterie.

Drusi’s creations are a demonstration of the capacity and originally of her fairy hands.
